I’m Darcy… a 20-something from the Chicago suburbs who just realized how hard it is to keep an “about me” page up-to-date. So with that said, here is all you could possibly need to know about me, as of this second (it could change five seconds from now):
I am currently a nanny for an adorably precocious two-(and-three-quarters!!)-year-old little girl. My degree is in teaching, but I love the adventure of nannying, the opportunity to help raise a child, the teachable moments, the endless cute, and the darndest things those little people say. At church, I teach Sunday school, help lead youth group, serve on the women’s ministry committee, and enjoy being a part of such an active church family. In my free time, I spend lots of time with friends and family, watch too much TV, occasionally bake, read, and feed my crazy ridiculous sports obsession.
As you might guess from the name of this blog, contentment is a topic that is pretty important to me. I have always struggled with being satisfied with what I have, and it’s not getting easier with age. It seems that everyone around me is doing something I wish I was doing. But, thankfully, the secret of contentment is readily available to me (and you, too)… Hint: read Philippians 4:10-13. Additional hint: it’s Jesus.
Of course, knowing all that doesn’t make me magically content all the time. The tools are there, but it doesn’t mean I always use them. The blog was originally created as a way for me to process those things with my friends, family, and anyone else who would care to read. And even all this time later, trust me, the need is still there. So, if contentment is something YOU struggle with (and if it isn’t, I need to meet you), then I would love to have you join me on this journey!
(And if you want to hear more of my thoughts behind this blog, you can read them here. Warning: it’s the unabridged version.)
