I’m Darcy… a 25-year-old who always thought that turning 25 would be a piece of cake.
Oh, how silly I was.
For some reason, the second I turned 25, I suddenly felt compelled to change everything in my life.
Overnight, I decided I had to…
- Start a blog
- Read more books
- Drink more milk
- Eat more spinach
- Watch less TV
- Listen better
- Budget
- Pray more
… and the list continues. Could I, the girl who has always been so unaffected by getting older, actually be having a quarter-life crisis? (Granted, if this is a quarter-life crisis, it seems to be a pretty positive one overall…)
One of the biggest “compulsions” I’ve felt since I became an official 25-year-old is to enjoy the blessings I’ve been given, without constantly feeling the need to look around for what I’m missing or to look ahead for what’s coming. So that is the goal of this blog: to forget about the fact that my “clock is ticking” and simply be grateful for where I am right now.
So where am I right now? I am living in the Chicago suburbs, loving the opportunity to be involved in lots of different things. I am about to start a full-time job as a nanny for infant twin girls. My degree is in teaching, but I love the adventure of nannying, the opportunity to help raise a child (or two), the teachable moments, and the cute babies. At church, I teach Sunday school, help lead youth group, serve on the women’s ministry committee, and enjoy being a part of such an active church family. In my free time, I spend lots of time with friends and family, watch too much TV, occasionally bake, read (see above), and feed my crazy ridiculous sports obsession.
There’s lots more where that came from, but I’m pretty sure that’s why I have a blog. You’ll just have to keep reading!
(And if you want to hear more of my thoughts behind this blog, you can read them here. Warning: it’s the unabridged version.)
You should put a cute picture in here.
